Gorka, the first of the Masters of the Night
defeated by Harlan Draka. |

| No longer a slave to her creator, she has decided to go along with Harlan and Kurjak.
She is known among the vampires as "The Renegade".
Tall, young, attractive and plucky, inspired physically by "strong, independent" women like Annie Lennox,
Tesla isn't in this series to be titillating or to play the classic role of "the blonde in danger" or
"the hero's faithful fiancée", but to fight and destroy every kind of evil.
But, beneath a hard, cynical surface we catch glimpses of human feelings such as friendship,
unselfishness and, perhaps, even love. She falls in love with Harlan but because he is a Dampyr they can't have
a normal physical relationship. With her other fellow character, Kurjak, she establishes an amusing running petty
squabble, but deep, deep down they have mutual respect (even though Kurjak would never admit it even under torture!).
Although she's a vampire, Tesla is sometimes more humane than a real human being. |
Kurjak is like any chap who finds himself joined up to fight a long war for his country.
The deadly battle he's involved in risks destroying the last traces of humanity in him, turning him
into a cold machine for killing.
An upright soldier who doesn't find it difficult to kill for the cause,
Kurjak changes his mind when he finds out that the Masters of the Night
are behind many of the battles.
And so he starts to help Harlan in his crusade against the vampires in order to take revenge for his
fellow soldiers killed by the
un-dead. His and Tesla's relationship
swings between irritation
- the she-vampire is very much stronger than any man
and she makes no |

secret of this, saving his friend's life several times! -
and a touching relationship of real friendship. Now Kurjak knows who are his real enemies! Together with
Tesla and Harlan, Kurjak wants to free the Earth from the curse of the Masters of the Night in the only
way
he knows: violence!
