His women

n almost every story there's a co-protagonist, and almost always Dylan falls in love with her. Often with devastating
results: the beautiful woman may turn out to be the assassin, or she may die, or abandon Dylan. In any case, she always has a very active role, not restricted to the hackneyed cliché of the "hero's girl-friend". Only rarely does a particular woman appear again in another story and become a recurrent character; nevertheless, many of these women have played a crucial role in the saga.

Morgana
is undoubtedly the most significant case. A protagonist of the album that bears the same name,
 donne1.jpg (31348 byte)
one of the most nightmarish and complex of the entire series,
donne2.jpg (21175 byte) she was, as Dylan states, the only real love of his life. At least up to number 100, in which - in a dreamlike atmosphere - a possible past of Dylan's is reconstructed, in which he discovers that Morgan is, perhaps, his mother.

Bree Daniel
s. A prostitute who helps Dylan to solve the case of the "invisible man": Dylan falls so deeply in love with her that he asks her to marry him. But she turns him down.
She returns in another story, dying of Aids, and Dylan can't save her even by appealing to Death to take him instead of her.

Anna Neve
r. A model for fashion magazines and an actress, absent-minded and forgetful, she is a sort of comical walking earthquake; she trips up all over the place, she's always making things fall, she's always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Lillie Connolly
appears in only one album ( a special color issue to celebrate the tenth anniversary of publication), in which the story evokes another episode from Dylan's past, dating back to the period when he was a young Scotland Yard agent. An IRA militant, Lillie is arrested as a terrorist and subsequently dies in prison, shortly after marrying Dylan (the title of this album is "Until death do you part"). It is after this tragic episode that Dylan leaves the police force.

ON THE SIDE OF THE MONSTERS

Real or arcane, fierce or helpless. They're called
monsters but often they're identical to us…
