KILLERS ARE AMONG US!
Garden City, as Julia's readers are by now well aware, is a quiet place in
appearance only. This is certainly true in the new adventure in which our
investigator of the Soul becomes involved, entitled
"Nel paese di Alice", where
the small city in New Jersey turns out to be not exactly an enchanted microcosm.
For in Garden City there's a murderer on the loose, who robs children of their
most precious possessions: dreams, trust, the future… life! A dreamlike surreal
story - with a script by Giancarlo Berardi and artwork by Giogio Trevisan - in
which Julia Kendall, her hand held by the cuddly bear Jiri and the dolly Charlie,
ventures into a fantastic world where dolls, garnished with deadly cyanide-laced
candy, become instruments of death…In the issue on sale at news-stands in April,
on the other hand, a man announces he's about to commit a murder. Nobody knows
his real identity, whether he really means it or whether he's just seeking a
blaze of publicity. What's certain is that for years this guy has cherished
within his bosom the desire to kill, trying not to give in to it; but that
damned temptation has always come back to torment him, stronger and fiercer
every time. Now his moment has come, the moment he's been waiting for so long,
too long. Now he's decided to capitulate, taking the life of his first victim.
But for what obscure reason has this potential murderer decided to disclose his
secret to Julia? Perhaps, subconsciously, he hopes the criminologist can stop
him… Or is it actually Julia who's the object of his homicidal madness?
