Bill, the Dalton Gang, Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, Quanah Parker,
Geronimo, Cochise, Timothy O'Sullivan... There's really only a handful
of names, in the whole of the never-ending story about Tex Willer,
that correspond to real historical characters the script-writers
chose to introduce alongside purely imaginary figures. But over
the last few months, not only in the Tex series but in Magico Vento
as well, the tiny handful mentioned above has been increased by
the arrival of a new figure from history: such a celebrated and
mesmerizing cult idol as to have become a veritable legend, surrounded
by a halo of ambivalence and mystery. That's why I decided it was
appropriate to dedicate the cover illustration to this icon - General
Armstrong Custer. He is portrayed in the enthralling picture reproduced
here, penned by Giovanni Ticci and taken from the dramatic still
on-going Tex story. As regards the other albums due to come out
this fall (among which you mustn't miss an action-packed Maxi Tex
with artwork by the Spanish illustrator Alfonso Font), why don't
you simply turn over the page and leaf through the News, and see
for yourself what a great array of stories we're offering. So have
fun, and have a good read!
