| Indian divinity that foments hatred and strife within the tribe. |
It can appear under various forms: as a sensual woman, a loathsome old man, a
gigantic scorpion with deadly poisonous venom, or an enormous spider capable
of emitting a massive electric charge. But its greatest weapon is deception:
Iktomi
treacherously blends truth and falsehood in the minds of men, distorts their
visions, insinuates creeping doubt in their souls and confuses their senses.

The Windigo
is a predatory monster of the Northern Forests. Constantly searching for human
flesh, the Windigo grows in height and size according to how many victims it
devours, in a never-ending spiral of horror.

Whopi,
or White Bison Woman, is a sacred figure. She was the one who gave the Lakota the
Pipe of Peace and initiated them into the practice of their sacred rites.
But sometimes she appears to them as a wild lost girl, and if anyone assaults her,
Whopi's fury becomes uncontrollable.

| The Beast is a terrifying creature that emerges from the
bowels of the earth to devour every living creature it meets along its path: it has
razor-sharp claws and its jaws can swallow bodies whole and then spit them out again
after having deboned them. The Mormons consider the Beast as an incarnation of the
devil, while the Indians believe it's a form of an ancient divinity that

needs to be appeased by throwing human and animal bones into its den.
But if by chance that's not enough to satiate it, then the Beast goes absolutely
crazy…. and nobody knows how to stop it.
The Vultur (this is its Latin name) was described in ancient
treatises of demonology and teratology as a monstrous animal, no less than a
veritable incarnation of the devil. In the Magico Vento saga, Aiwass uses his magic
arts to put this ancient representation of Evil to work for the white shaman's great |

enemy, the Chicago wheeler-dealer Howard Hogan, turning it into a
ghastly winged creature that Hogan's mind animates and goads into machinations
against Ned.
